These workflows automated the business processes to streamline the City’s operations while centralizing data processes for validation, monitoring, and analysis while simplifying the current business processes for internal staff. DDS worked with the City’s GIS staff to design, document, and implement these workflows.

Web-Based Address Management Solution

The Address Management solution was designed to allow addressing employees to add and edit City addressing data.  The process began by tailoring the Next-Gen 911 schema to the City of Salinas’s needs, then implementing an ETL process to convert existing city data.  On this foundation, DDS developed an application to guide, track, and validate address entry and modification by staff.  Every modification to this data generates a report sent automatically to relevant stakeholders of the staff member’s choosing, such as the county assessor, city engineers, mail carriers, and utility companies.  This system centralized, digitized, and automated a predecessor based on paper forms; the new system collects and validates more data in less time for City employees.

Tree Inventory and Maintenance Solution

DDS and Salinas developed a two-part solution to allow Salinas staff to create work orders in the office for tree maintenance and a field solution for staff to close work orders in the field upon completion of the tasks.

Commercial/Industrial Permit Inspection Solution

A custom VertiGIS Studio Workflow solution to allow field staff to perform commercial and industrial business inspections in the field.

Sewer Vault Inspection Solution

A custom VertiGIS Studio Workflow inspection form to inspect sanitary sewer vaults before and after cleaning.

NPDES Stormwater Construction Inspection Solution

A custom VertiGIS Studio Workflow inspection to guide field workers through the data entry and editing process while ensuring backend data integrity in ArcGIS Enterprise to record and report any discharges into the stormwater network.
